Hammer toe

A deformity of the toe(s), in which the end of the toe is bent downward (claw-like), is called hammer toe.  Walking and other movement of the toe(s)may be painful

The most common cause of hammer toe is wearing thongs or short, narrow shoes or high heels where toes are forced into a bent position. Muscles and tendons tighten and become shorter.

In rare cases, all of the toes may be affected. This may be caused by a problem with the nerves or spinal cord.

Improvement in the condition is usually noted within 6 weeks of Bowen Therapy treatments.  Depending on the severity of the condition, treatment may take longer. In the early stages of hammer toe, the condition can be resolved after a couple of treatments.
