Remedial Massage Therapy
Remedial Massage Therapy is a manipulative therapy used to resolve muscular issues and pain. The therapist uses a range of remedial massage techniques (such as myofascia release techniques, joint mobilisation, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation just to name a few) to address muscular inconsistencies. Unlike relaxation massage which is generalised and primarily for relaxation, remedial massage concentrates in regions related to an injury or pain for treatment purposes.
The remedial massage practitioner will analyse the patient’s symptoms and relate that to an effective massage treatment program.
Andrea is a qualified and experienced remedial massage therapist with a Diploma in Remedial Massage gained in South Australia from the Australian College of Massage.
Pre & Post Massage Assessments
As a medical massage professional I ensure each remedial massage patient is given a pre and post massage treatment assessment.
The pre-massage assessment includes a discussion and observation of the patient’s injuries. This information is then used to determine the specifics of the massage treatment. The post massage assessment is a review of the treatment outcomes.
These assessments are a requirement to qualify for Health Fund Rebates.
Remedial Massage Clinic
My home based clinic in Bellevue Heights near Blackwood is set up specially to treat patients using a variety of massage and bowen therapy treatments which of course also includes remedial massage. The clinic has:
- Massage Table
A comfortable massage table that raises and lowers to enable patients to climb on easily.
This is very helpful for less agile or injured patients.
- Massage Chair
We use this for treating particular injuries and for clients who prefer not to use our massage table
