Stress and the physical effects on the body

stress_headacheStress is part of every day life and it’s body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. Not only does your body react with emotional and mental responses but also with physical responses.

Most people would have experienced occasional headaches or low energy during times of stress but when the stress levels are prolonged and unmanaged, stress can have a chronic affect on your body.

Those occasional headaches suddenly become more frequent, your body starts to ache either in certain areas or all over, and your immune system takes a dive so that you suddenly find yourself more susceptible to colds and infections.

Jaw clenching and teeth grinding (often people are not even aware of this) often cause such tightness in the head and neck muscles that people suffer from chronic headaches.

Ringing in the ear , lower back and/or upper back pain, neck pain, all of these are physical symptoms of stress and may be eased with massage.

If changes cannot be made to the underlying cause of these issues a regular massage program may be of benefit to either prevent chronic pain or to manage it.
